that they bring up the cat ears and that it is not related to anime(some stupid controversy that arose in the forum), and that they are talking about top hats, (something that has been suggested on these forums) shows that they are paying attention to the community here. I never expected them to lurk as much as they are doing...

Definitely going to be Gwen and Thackeray, they have a descendant in the Ghosts of Ascalon novel so it makes sense. It's not said outright that it's Gwen's line as well but the description fit pretty well. It's cool that we've gotten to see so much development for her.

they know more about their community than you'd think.

No, Winds of Change isn't about Shiro returning. XD It's an entirely new storyline.

Emperor Kisu has some descendants that need to come to be too, you know.
As far as we know, it could turn out that Gwen and Keiren had a 1 night gig before he left for Kryta. She did kind of run into the city crying after him. It could turn out that he never returns and she takes his last name in honor of him and to give her child last name (considering she appears to not have one).

Its already mid November, so itll likely be in order of:

1. Thackerays return + Wedding Costume Set

2. Winterday + New Winterday Costume Set

3. GW:Beyond Cantha Chapter + Costume Set

...
They made it sound like the Canthan chapter is coming sooner than that, but you're most likely right.

I wish these all didn't cost money. I understand the desire for Anet to capitalize on costumes, especially considering that they make so much, but I'm just not interested in paying real-life money for costumes. But, like someone else said earlier, I guess money comes before community right now.

At least other games give you the chance to earn cash shop items with in-game items/money.

...or require you to pay real money // farm in-game like mad just to stay on par with those who can afford cash shop items.

Although i'd like a costume or two available after a chain of quests, it's actually quite fine the way it is, as long as costumes provide no real bonus.

That's a good point. At least they're not giving costumes in-game bonuses.

However, many games do allow certain, difficult to attain in-game items to trade for costumes. I'd be down for that. It'd be like the Pet Unlock Pack. I'm sure they've made plenty off of that, even though you could unlock every pet in-game without it.

Kyon's Calculation:
1. "Haruhi is, or She is not"
2. A Game is being played... where heads or tails will turn up.
3. According to reason, you can defend neither of the propositions.
4. You must wager. It is not optional.
5. Let us weigh the gain and the loss in wagering that Haruhi is. Let us estimate these two chances. If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing.
6. Wager, then, without hesitation that She is. (...) There is here an infinity of an infinitely happy life to gain, a chance of gain against a finite number of chances of loss, and what you stake is finite. And so our proposition is of infinite force, when there is the finite to stake in a game where there are equal risks of gain and of loss, and the infinite to gain.

Would be nice if there was an ingame way to earn at least some of the older costumes, like the long out-of-fashion Dwayna/Grenth costumes as an elite reward for some Wintersday2010 content. Because otherwise the costumes could just aswell not exist at all for me, I'd never pay real $$ for some pixels.

And that would be a good reason to quit the game and never look back.

I find the price for all the costumes outweighing the cost for all the guild wars games disturbing.

While I'd hoped that the seals which had weakened were actually binding Menzies, I doubt that at this point... :-\

Could be Emperor Singtah though... He really strikes me as a Canthan parallel to Thorn at this point... What with the sociopathic tyranny thing and the whole uprising and burning and whatnot...

i never did like the way you had to pay for costumes which the only benefit is its looks. i can understand them needing money to keep gw1 running and help make gw2. but you would think they would get that from all the new people joing each day.

anyway i hope this new content wont be so short like WiK was. i mean really if you grinded a tiny bit you could finish it in a day, not counting the new bounties we get each day. and if its thackerys/gwen's weddning then wouldnt we have to find him first?

Just read the whole interview. Wow that looks just pathetic. They're just clearly concentrating on EASY ways to drain $$ out of a dying game instead of making it better and then making profits out of it. Just see how long we wait for the derv skill update or some improvements and new map for HA (3 years?). But ofcourse it's far easier to add 2 new models to the game and make people pay for it the price of 1/4 of a full game expansion.

O.M.F.G.

I'd guess that the single greatest need for the GW community was an Auction House (or any other automated trading system, Xunlai Marketplace or something), since even before day 1. Yes, Anet really listens to the community... although given how many players actually buy all the costumes crap for their glorified 3d chat I've lost my hopes in this community completely.

I count 30 bucks worth of costumes. The games when they were released were like 40-50 bucks. So far the costumes dont cost as much as a single expansion.

I do hope that after or around wintersday the grenth/dwyana become available for a discounted price. To me, spending 10 bucks every 3-6 months is a drop in the bucket for a game I play religiously. It gives you no ingame advantage, helps pay for new content, and is completely optional. And honestly, 10 bucks isnt that big a deal. Get a paper route or mow some lawns or something, done.

As for the new title, Cantha: Winds of Change, it makes me think the Jade Sea will turn back into water. Although I know that will never happen. Its probably just a reference to the change of command structure and philosophy in Cantha.

New wedding costumes before Wintersday? I got my money on Thackery and Gwen.

And the someone else that wants to return to Tyria is obviously meant to be Lich. But, there could easily be a number of old foes trying to escape as well. Its not like Lich and the Mad King are the only ones stuck in the underworld.
